Graham Beck Named Top of The Class(ique) at Veritas Awards 2025
The House claims four Double Golds and the title of 'Top Achiever’ in the class for 10 wine entries or less

The results of the 2025 Veritas Awards have been announced and we are thrilled to share that we've been named 'Top Achiever’ in the class for ten wine entries or less with four Double Gold wins and one Gold award. This acknowledgement reflects the meticulous craft, precision and patience that define every Graham Beck Cap Classique.

For over four decades, we have pursued a vision of sparkling wine defined by mastery and a profound sense of place. Almost as long-standing as the House itself, Veritas has championed South Africa’s finest wines, recognising craft, precision and authenticity. The alignment speaks for itself.

What Are The Veritas Awards?
Founded in 1991 and now in its 34th year, the Veritas Awards are South Africa’s longest-running and most prestigious wine and brandy competition. Often referred to as the “Oscars” of South African wine, the competition is judged by a distinguished panel of local and international experts. Each wine is assessed for balance, varietal expression and its ability to age with grace, establishing an authoritative benchmark for quality in South African winemaking.

Achieving a Double Gold at Veritas is no small feat, requiring unanimous recognition from the panel with scores of 93–100 points without re-tasting. A Gold medal (90–92 points) is equally esteemed, representing wines re-evaluated and confirmed through consensus. These awards stand as a testament to precision, integrity and consistency - a sought-after accolade for winemakers and estates alike.

Which Graham Beck Wines Earned Double Gold at the Veritas Awards 2025?
Our recognition at the Veritas Awards 2025 highlights Graham Beck’s commitment to thoughtful innovation while maintaining exacting standards of craft. Leading this year’s honours are four Cap Classiques, each shaped by dedication, terroir and meticulous winemaking:

Cuvée Clive 2019 – Double Gold
Our flagship and seven-time winner of Tim Atkin MW's 'Cap Classique of the Year', this prestige cuvée shines with a golden hue and persistent, delicate bubbles. Aromas of citrus, green apple and toasted almond lead into a palate layered with lemon zest, ripe peach and gentle brioche. Crisp acidity and a polished finish reflect the meticulous craftsmanship behind every bottle.

Blanc de Blancs 2019 - Double Gold
Crafted from 100% handpicked Chardonnay grapes, this Cap Classique offers a vibrant expression of Robertson’s terroir. The bouquet is bright and focused, with notes of lime, green apple and fresh lemon, while the palate reveals layered citrus, delicate brioche and a hint of spice. Fine mousse and lively acidity carry through to a graceful, enduring finish, reflecting our commitment to precision.

Ultra Brut 2018 – Double Gold
An ultra-dry expression of precision, Ultra Brut 2018 combines elegance with vibrancy. Crafted from select Chardonnay and Pinot Noir parcels, it underwent extended maturation on lees, enhancing texture and complexity. Aromas of lemon curd, toasted brioche and subtle almond notes lead to a crisp, focused palate layered with chalky minerality and gentle citrus. Its restrained dosage highlights the purity of fruit and the technique behind each bottle.

Pinot Noir Rosé 2019 – Double Gold
With a soft salmon-pink hue, this expressive rosé captivates with aromas of blueberries, gentle spice and creamy notes. On the palate, vibrant raspberry and subtle honeysuckle flavours are framed by delicate bubbles and a persistent, elegant finish. Extended lees contact enhances mouthfeel, delivering a poised and expressive Cap Classique.

Brut Rosé - Gold
Blending Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from carefully selected vineyards across the Western Cape, this Brut Rosé is a poised and elegant Cap Classique. Aromas of fresh strawberry, raspberry and subtle pastry notes lead to a vibrant palate, layered with bright red fruit, a fine, persistent mousse and a crisp, dry finish. A refined expression of balance and meticulous craft, it embodies our signature style.

A Declaration of Excellence for South Africa’s Sparkling Wines
Cap Classique represents South Africa’s distinct take on Champagne - a sparkling wine produced to the exacting standards of the traditional method. This careful process includes secondary fermentation in the bottle and prolonged lees ageing, yielding wines of incredible depth, finesse and nuance.

It is a craft defined by patience and precision, where true mastery unfolds over years. What sets Cap Classique apart is not only its adherence to time-honoured technique, but also its ability to showcase the diversity and character of South Africa’s terroirs.

Another Chapter in an Exemplary Awards Season
These accolades serve as a reminder that true craftsmanship endures long after the applause fades. For us, this recognition is both affirmation and inspiration - a testament to meticulous craft, a profound respect for Robertson’s terroir and a commitment to shaping Cap Classique both locally and globally.

“Our decision to focus solely on Cap Classique has shaped everything we do,” says Cellarmaster Pierre de Klerk. “That dedication continues to challenge us to refine, innovate and push the boundaries of our craft every day. This latest recognition at Veritas affirms that focus, proving that excellence in one pursuit can place you on the podium among the best.”

In an age of excess, we have chosen mastery, refinement and the relentless pursuit of the perfect bubble. It’s a philosophy that carries through every vintage - a celebration of what matters.
