HAMPSHIRE & WEST SUSSEX TERROIR - FERREIRA & DE KLERK
The chalk-rich soils and cool maritime climate of Hampshire and West Sussex offered a compelling opportunity for a House dedicated to traditional-method sparkling wine. Working with carefully selected growers, Graham Beck sourced parcels of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier to explore how the House style could find expression in a new terroir.
The 2018 release also marks the final collaboration between former Cellarmaster Pieter “Bubbles” Ferreira and Cellarmaster Pierre de Klerk before Pieter’s retirement from the House in January 2026. It brings together decades of shared experience in a wine that reflects both its English origin and the exacting standards that define Graham Beck.
It closes one chapter for the House, while opening another.
The journey began in 2016 when owner Antony Beck and Pieter Ferreira explored England’s emerging sparkling wine landscape, inspired by its chalk-rich soils and cool maritime climate, conditions remarkably similar to those of Champagne.
Produced using the traditional method, each vineyard parcel was pressed and vinified separately before meticulous blending.
A portion of the base wine was fermented in neutral French oak barrels, adding subtle texture and complexity, while early bottling allowed for extended maturation on the lees, creating exceptional finesse, elegance and depth.
Every bottle reflects Graham Beck’s unwavering commitment to craftsmanship while embracing the unique expression of English terroir.
Medium straw with flashes of brilliant green.
Fresh white grapefruit, yellow pear, Golden Delicious apple, and white peach layered with toasted brioche, roasted almond, and warm nutmeg.
Vibrant and linear with ripe nectarine, lemon curd, and pear, balanced by crystalline acidity, chalky minerality, and a long, refined finish.
