Raising the Bar: Graham Beck Claims Nine Top Honours at the 2025 NWC
We’re incredibly honoured to share that the House of Graham Beck has achieved remarkable success at one of South Africa’s most prestigious wine competitions, earning nine awards across our Cap Classique range at the 2025 National Wine Challenge.

Leading the charge is our newly released 2019 vintage of Cuvée Clive, which secured a rare triple crown: Cap Classique Wine of the Year, Grand Cru National Champion Best in Class and Top 100 with Double Platinum status. This recognition builds on Cuvée Clive’s legacy as a six-time Cap Classique of the Year winner in Tim Atkin MW’s authoritative South Africa Report.

About The National Wine Challenge
The National Wine Challenge (NWC) is one of South Africa’s most respected wine competitions, known for its rigorous judging process and focus on quality across all styles. Organised by buybetterwine.com, it recognises excellence through Top 100, Double Platinum and Double Gold awards. Organisers noted that, given the calibre and diversity of this year’s entries, achieving recognition was especially challenging, making our 2025 results all the more meaningful.

Cuvée Clive 2019: A Tribute to Mastery
When we first crafted Cuvée Clive, we knew it would only ever be made in exceptional vintages - and 2019 has proven to be one of those rare years. We’re thrilled that our flagship cuvée has claimed a bona fide hat-trick at the NWC.

This 2019 expression, an elegant blend of 81% Chardonnay and 19% Pinot Noir, is crafted from only the first 400 litres per ton of juice, sourced from our limestone-rich Robertson soils and select Durbanville vineyards. After five years and seven months on the lees, it embodies everything we strive for - a tribute to time, terroir and our relentless pursuit of the perfect bubble.

Nine Awards Across Our Range
Beyond Cuvée Clive, several other vintage and non-vintage Cap Classiques from our portfolio were also recognised among the top sparkling wines of 2025. We’re especially proud to see the breadth of our range acknowledged - from experimental releases to signature favourites.

The Top 100 and Double Platinum awards recognised five of our vintage expressions: our Ultra Brut 2018 showcased the zero-dosage precision we've refined over years, while our Pinot Noir Rosé 2019 exemplified the berry-driven elegance we pursue in our rosé expressions.

We're particularly proud that our Pinot Meunier 2022 was recognised - South Africa's first commercially available 100% Pinot Meunier Cap Classique, which we crafted using the rare Agrafe method. Our Blanc de Blancs 2019 rounded out the vintage honours, representing the pure Chardonnay excellence we've cultivated from our estate-grown grapes.

The Double Gold medals awarded to Brut 2023 and Brut Rosé 2023 are just as meaningful. These are the wines that often introduce people to our House, and yet they receive the same meticulous care as our most exclusive Cap Classiques, reflecting our belief that excellence should never be reserved for special occasions alone.
