Our icon, reimagined through time
Cuvée Clive X 2015 stands as our most ambitious release to date - a wine born from patience, vision, and the desire to see how far time can take an icon. What began as a discreet cellar experiment, where select bottles of Cuvée Clive were set aside, has become a landmark expression of what a decade of lees ageing can achieve. X marks ten years of quiet transformation, reimagining our flagship through the lens of time.
This rare cuvée is crafted exclusively from 100% Chardonnay, drawn from two exceptional vineyards: a limestone-rich Robertson parcel (Clone CY277) and Darling’s rolling hills (Clone 95). Together they bring freshness, minerality, and depth - the Robertson soils imparting finesse and oyster shell purity, while Darling contributes richness and breadth.
In the glass, Cuvée Clive X reveals a deep golden hue with the faintest trace of green, its fine perlage carrying a kaleidoscope of aromas. Citrus and white peach lead into dried lemon zest and sun-ripened apricot, evolving into layers of baked apple crumble, roasted almonds, and hints of oyster shell. The mousse is airy yet persistent, coating the palate with creamy generosity and finishing with elegance and length.
Cuvée Clive X 2015 is more than a single vintage - it is a statement of intent. A Cap Classique of kaleidoscopic complexity, voluptuous mouthfeel and enduring grace.
